The Steering Committee is a 7 member Group made up of elected meeting members who field any concerns, problems, ideas or suggestions that are submitted to the group.
The Steering Committee is responsible for chairing and holding a monthly M of M ( Meeting of the Minds) on the first Saturday of every month.
The Steering Committee upholds the ACT traditions and the greater good of the entire group. The seven people are voted into the committee by the members of the ACT group for a 6 month term in January and July of each year.
The group is comprised of 3 members who are sober over 37 months, 2 members who have a minimum of 19-36 months of continuous sobriety and 2 members who have 6 months-18 months of sobriety.
If you are interested in running for a steering committee seat you must submit an email to travelersrecovery@gmail.com 1 (one) month before an election stating your interest and listing your sobriety date in order to be put on the ballot.
Elections take place at the January and July M of M ( Meeting of Mind) on the first Saturday of the month.
To be eligible to be on the ballot you must:
1. Be on the active rotation of service in the main meeting.
2. Attend the ACT meeting on a regular basis
3. Have a sobriety birthdate that falls within one of the 3 sober time categories listed above.
The Steering Committee is a 6 month commitment.
You are basically on call at all times and you may be required to put a great deal of time into this position. Some issues are able to be discussed via the Steering Committee chat while others require a meeting in our zoom room. There are sometimes issues that are triggering, that are hard and that may require decisions to be made that are difficult. We operate on a Quorum, meaning at least 5 members must be present to hold a vote and majority is recognized.
We encourage ONLY THOSE who have the desire and ability to commit to this time and are serious about the greater good of this meeting to submit their interest by emailing travelersrecovery@gmail.com with a letter of interest and their sober date.
